Construction Packages for builders or do-it-yourselfers Our rough-in packages include SIPs and ICFs for the construction of foundations, exterior walls and roofs. Compared to conventional construction methods, these materials are way more cost effective in terms of time and materials spent building the shell of a home, as well as energy efficiency after you or your clients move in. SIPs (structural insulated panels) are used for exterior framing and roof construction in place of the studs and joists, insulation, vapor barrier and air barrier normally used in stick-built homes. They are made up of a sandwich of two layers of OSB with an insulating layer of foam in between, and can be used as the backing for drywall on the inside, and stucco, lap siding or brick on the outside.. Compared to stick built homes there is significantly less labor involved in building a structure with SIPs, as well as a greater insulating R-value, less construction waste, and a sturdier home when built properly. ICFs (insulating concrete forms), used for exterior walls and foundation walls, are basically forms for poured concrete that stay in place as a permanent part of the wall assembly. The forms, made of expanded polystyrene, are pre-formed interlocking blocks that provide a continuous insulation and sound barrier, and also a backing for drywall on the inside, and stucco, lap siding or brick on the outside.
